If you have not yet reviewed the "General Information for Parents and Students" released by the Department of Education, you may download the document from the DOE website. Issues addressed in that document are not necessarily recounted again here.

 

Parents who would like to see their student attend Governor's School in 2010 may wish to review the Prospective Students page. More on the application process will be available in the Fall.

Where can I find extra copies of forms?

We send out a mailing around May 1 with several forms for parents and students to complete and mail back. Copies of the forms and other materials will be available here in PDF after the mailing goes out.

How do I contact my student at the program?

While we do not allow students to have private phones (including cell phones), there are several ways to stay in touch with your student. Additionally, the main office number is answered 24 hours a day in case of emergencies. More...

Are overnight accomodations available near campus? 

We are working on making arrangements with hotels near campus for parents who are traveling great distances or who wish to travel to the Newport News area prior to check-in day (July 5). Hotel information and rates will be posted when available.

Who are the faculty and staff? 

Faculty, resident advisors, and support staff hail from the entire country. The work at high schools, colleges, and as professional artists. They all live on campus for the duration of the program. More...

How will my child spend their time?  

Scheduling changes frequently occur, but this schedule provides a basic idea of the daily schedule. Evening activities occure most nights and include acitivities such as student variety shows, local performing groups, and speakers. Currently, you may view pictures from last summer's program to get an idea of what your student might be doing during your month with us. However, these pictures were taken at the University of Richmond. While the activities may be similar, the backdrop will be different. More...
